Covid Sucks.
Summer 2020 has definitely been the summer of weirdness or pretty much the summer of suck. I made the decision to ride the Covid pandemic out at my home in Down East Maine. Pretty much at the tip of the northeast corner of the United States.
Summer 2020 has definitely been the summer of weirdness or pretty much the summer of suck. I made the decision to ride the Covid pandemic out at my home in Down East Maine. Pretty much at the tip of the northeast corner of the United States. On a map in just east of nowhere resting on the Gulf of Maine. Water is everywhere. Deep water. As a diver I want to be in, on, and under it. Unfortunately for me the conditions up here suck. Tides are huge, about 18 plus feet. Currents are ripping. Water temp is lucky to get above 50 degrees. But worst of all Viz is nil and there are very few things to actually look at in my bay. So as a diver I am tad stir crazy, dreaming of Great Lakes shipwrecks or warm water Florida reefs. I have spent the last few months mapping out dive trips through out the Caribbean. Exploring the reefs of Saba, Bonaire, the US VI’s, etc. etc. Lots of dreaming.
To stay active as an instructor I have spent a lot time taking online trainings. I have added a few agencies to my offerings, expanding my affiliations and am pretty geeked about the folks I have met along the way. Since March I have completed my crossovers to PSS (Professional Scuba Schools), SDI (Scuba Divers International), and SEI (Scuba Educators International). All of these agencies have their unique strengths and along with my current NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors) classes I believe my students and clients have access to pretty much any form of recreational scuba diving training that they may desire.
I will be using my Dive Log as a place to discuss past dive experiences, gear reviews, training updates, and scuba musings. For those who are getting wet, happy diving, I am jealous. For those who want to get wet and learn about this lifestyle shoot me a message, we can at least start the training process. I am looking forward to getting the scuba bus out and heading out with some dive buddies. Until then happy diving to the lucky few who are getting wet.
